North Iceland can proudly present another beautiful coastal route! The Arctic Coast Way, recently named Europe's third most exciting travel destination by the Lonely Planet travel guide, will officially open on June 8th, 2019.

The route stretches over 900 km across 6 peninsulas and connects 21 fishing villages. From Borðeyri in the northwest to Bakkafjörður in the far northeast, the route winds its way along impressive fjords, rough cliffs, and lonely black sand beaches. In addition to impressive scenery, the Arctic Coast Way offers many opportunities to spot whales, seals, and birds. Situated just below the Arctic Circle, it hardly gets dark in the summer months, so you can even experience the midnight sun. We recommend exploring the Arctic Coast Way best on a round trip with a rental car.
