This guided tour takes you to the hot-spots and the lesser-known areas. Several soft adventures and cultural visits are included. Some outdoor activities might differ between seasons depending on weather and road conditions.

ARRIVAL

Reykjavik Harpa

Arrival at Keflavik international airport. Individual transfer by coach to your accommodation in Reykjavik.

Depending on flight times you can visit the Blue Lagoon Spa on your way to the city or on departure day.

Volcano Crater - Fjords - Mountains

Snaefellsness

You will meet your tour guide at 09:00 am and start your journey. We start by heading west passing the town of Borgarnes, those who like can have a short hike up the volcano crater Grábrók, continuing the journey north, you get to see some traditional Icelandic architecture, the turf house when visiting Glaumbaer museum is one of few well-preserved turf structures left in Iceland. We continue the journey through northern landscapes all the way to Akureyri, the capital of the North. Overnight in Akureyri.

 

Akureyri - Lake Myvatn

Myvatn Area

Start the day by exploring Akureyri. With a population of about 18.000, this lively and energetic town is the largest one outside the greater Reykjavik area. After enjoying a bit of Akureyri. we visit one of Iceland's most spectacular jewels, Godafoss, "Waterfall of the Gods". The next stop is Lake Mývatn, known for active bird life, and for its weird and inspiring volcanic features. More extraordinary lava formations await us at Kálfaströnd beach. We'll have a walk in the area and end the day with a relaxing soak at Mývatn Nature Baths, surrounded by beautiful nature. Overnight location in Lake Myvatn area.

Lava Labyrinth - Hot Spings - East Iceland

Dettifoss Waterfall

We start the day with a hike in Dimmuborgir "Dark Forts" lava fields. The name of the area will make sense once you see it. The dramatic lava structures have triggered people's imagination throughout the centuries. Dimmuborgir is home to many stories of mythical creatures, trolls, and other folklore. Our next stop is the geothermal wonder of Námaskarð, with its hot sulfuric mud springs and steam springs (solfataras and fumaroles). We head through the uninhabited highlands to East Iceland. From June to August the tour includes a detour to Dettifoss. Dettifoss is reputed to be the most powerful waterfall in Europe. Overnight in Egilsstadir area.

Fjords - Glacier

Today you get to experience the dramatic views and the charming fishing villages of the East Fjords. We make a stop at Petra's Stone Collection, a unique stone and mineral collection. After this, we continue to Vatnajökull – the largest and most voluminous ice cap in Europe. 

South Coast

After Breakfast, we head for the impressive Jökulsárlón, a glacial lagoon filled with floating icebergs.  Enjoy, explore and look out for seals swimming in the arctic waters.  Enjoy a fantastic boat tour sailing between the floating icebergs, this is included in the program from May through September.  Have a walk on the black sandy beach below the lagoon. The large icebergs get stranded there and people call it the "diamond beach". Travel along the southern part of the glacier Vatnajökull and get a glimpse of Europe’s second-largest national park, which has Iceland’s highest mountains, alpine environment, and Europe’s largest glacier. 
In the afternoon, enjoy the drive through many natural wonders as we head across the Eldhraun lava field, and cross the sandy desert of the south coast, overlooked by mountainous cliffs, glaciers, and waterfalls.  A unique Icelandic Lava Show awaits when you get to witness and feel the heat from molten lava! Stroll along the black lava beach of Reynisfjara near Vík. In the small village of Skógar, there is Skógafoss waterfall which is 60 meters high and is one of the most impressive waterfalls in the country. Continue to the high but narrow Seljalandsfoss waterfall, which plunges over the mountain. An exciting trail goes behind the fall – if you are prepared to get wet!

Icelandic Horses - Golden Circle

The famous Golden Circle awaits you, we start by visiting Friðheimar farm. On the farm we get to enjoy a horse show, learn about the Icelandic horse, its unique qualities and history and visit a geothermal greenhouse  After this we head to the Geysir geothermal fields, some of the best natural attractions in Iceland. Strokkur (the churn) spouts water 30 meters into the air every few minutes. The magnificent Gullfoss (Golden falls) is Iceland's most famous waterfall and a major attraction. We visit the UNESCO World Heritage site Þingvellir National Park. This is a location of historical significance and geological wonder. As you arrive back in Reykjavik, there will be a short city tour to show the highlights of the city. Overnight in Reykjavik.

Blue Lagoon

Transfer from your hotel in Reykjavik to Keflavík airport. Depending on flight time you can visit the Blue Lagoon on the way to the airport.
