Today, we will embark on a journey to explore the wonders of the Golden Circle. Our first stop is Thingvellir National Park, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This unique place is home to the oldest national parliament in the world, the Althingi, which played a significant role in the history of Iceland. As we stroll through the park, we will witness numerous crevices that bear testimony to the drifting apart of the North American and Eurasian continental plates.
Next, we will visit the mighty Gullfoss waterfall, also known as the Golden Falls, which is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland. We will also explore the active geothermal area of Haukadalur, which is home to the most active geyser, Strokkur, that erupts hot water up to 25 meters into the sky every 5-10 minutes.
We will then enjoy an early dinner experience at the Ingolfsskali Viking Restaurant, a charming eatery that offers an authentic Icelandic holiday dinner. This will transport us back to an era where nature served as the primary inspiration for cuisine. After dinner, we will head out to Faxafloi Bay to hunt for the Northern Lights. With a bit of luck, we might get the perfect picture of the majestic Northern Lights and the City.
