Snæfellsnes is a peninsula on the west side of the island and is a miniature version of Iceland. In addition to the charismatic Snæfellsjökulis glacier there are also black beaches, bird cliffs, spectacular mountains and volcanic craters. On this trip you will be exploring the fishing village of Arnarstapi and Hellnar which is a historic fishing village. The trip is also via Djupalonssandur, a black lava beach and the iconic mountain Kirkjufell.
The amazing landscape on the peninsula has taken over the dreams of people from all over the world, ever since Jules Verne wrote the famous book "Journey of the Center of the Earth".
On the Golden Circle Gullfoss-Geysir tour you can walk around the world-famous Geysir geothermal area, a geothermal field where hot springs are in abundance, geysers explode and pools of mud bubble. One of the Golden Circle’s many highlights is the Gullfoss waterfall, the queen of Iceland‘s waterfalls. The tour ends with the no less spectacular Thingvellir National Park. This is the original site of the oldest existing parliament in the world. The great Atlantic Rift is clearly visible, a rift that is slowly pulling Iceland apart along tectonic plates.
Depending on flight times you can spend the morning in Reykjavik. Transfer from your hotel to Keflavik airport for your flight back.
